Today is International Women’s Day (IWD).  The campaign theme this year is #BalanceforBetter.

At Centacare, women outnumber men. About 80 per cent of our staff are female. From executive management to frontline services and finance, women excel across the organisation to provide opportunities and support to South Australians, without regard to religion, race, culture, gender, or economic circumstance.

We are strong, committed, resilient, brave and wise!

New staff member, Sophia Poppe, has the above IWD message. Sophia recently returned from her native Tanzania where she has been a kinship carer and has worked tirelessly to provide children with opportunities. Sophia has joined our team as a foster care support worker.

On IWD, Centacare Deputy Director, Pauline Connelly has this message:

We discover who we are when we look into the eyes of those who love us.

Look at your reflection and love you.

Look at each other and send love.

Look at your daughters, sisters, mothers, sister-friends, those women who inspire, the hidden female warriors who never give up.

And love them.
